Coastal Crating Company has been based in Houston since its inception in 1992. We have continually grown and prospered throughout the years by implementing new technology and processes. Some of the ways Coastal Crating has continued to move forward are through increasing the size of our facility, increasing our lifting capacity, seeking the best quality employees, and upgrading our computer systems to keep up with expanding technologies. We have also increased our off-site capabilities to encompass work sites throughout North America.
Our physical plant has increased to 10 acres that are fully improved, fenced, stabilized and lighted with video surveillance cameras affixed in key areas of the facility. We have a 30’ gated entry with no obstructions for material requiring a high clearance. We are conveniently located to all Houston area sea and air ports as well as rail yards.
Coastal Crating is using the very latest technology available in the market place today. The system has been custom designed by a company who is on line with us and can constantly monitor our system. The system is a compilation of many different industries and shipping requirements and has been designed by our customers as much as by our staff. It offers continuous updates, outstanding material tracking and reporting methods, online access, and real-time data available at all times. This system is fully customizable and will integrate with most procurement programs.
There are two important business processes we have identified over the years, the importance of quality in our workmanship and accuracy in our paperwork. We have also learned the importance of job safety and have a strict program to protect our workers and your cargo. This keeps your costs down, maintains our standard of quality, and provides our staff with a safe work environment.
Coastal Crating continues to train all new employees with the same methodology that has provided a quality product for many years. We have fully trained and certified Hazmat personnel on staff, certified forklift operators and employees with the new TWIC cards necessary to survey customer material and complete their packing needs at port facilities.
Coastal Crating has been honored with awards and letters received from satisfied customers as we continue to improve our services, software and purchase larger equipment to reduce the need for outside cranes to handle our customer’s cargo. We continually look for ways to make our customers’ job easier and more efficient. One example is that Coastal Crating has implemented a new and unique house receipt feature that alerts a customer when their cargo arrives at our facility. This house receipt updates a customer’ appointed representatives through an automatic e-mail when the cargo clears our gate. Our new computer system provides customer access to their information by logging on to our secured web site with a user name and password. The web site also offers quick access to many websites used by our customers on a regular basis.
